Irene Kettle of Kettle Communications is a journalist, communications and public relations consultant and media trainer. Deeply involved in our city’s charity, community and business communities, Irene believes Colchester is a vibrant place to live and work.

Irene has been a journalist for 45 years and was the first female Editor of the then four-edition Colchester Evening Gazette. A Member of The Society of Editors, she edited the award-winning Essex County Standard and later became Editor-in-Chief. Irene has also edited lifestyle and business magazines.

She is a volunteer, Rotarian and a Trustee of Colchester charities including the 298-year-old Almshouses Charity of Arthur Winsley and Colchester Institute Foundation Trust. Irene is volunteer and communications advisor for North Essex Heritage, which is working to save Colchester’s historic Jumbo water tower.
